Though my freshman-self imagined it would never happen, my time at USC comes to a close and thus I look back with fondness over how I spent my years at the esteemed university. Not only have I taken classes from world-renowned professors on a variety of topics, from the ecological future of the warming arctic to the literary inquisitiveness Toni Morrison sought in her writings, but I also immersed myself in extracurriculars. I was the President of Film and Television Writers of USC, the largest student-led film organization at USC, participated in tournaments for USC’s official fencing organization and worked on countless film sets assisting fellow student filmmakers just like myself.
More than a few in my hometown of Nuevo, California questioned why, or how, I could leave a quiet, peaceful, desert town and thrust myself into the bustling, cut-throat industry in Los Angeles to pursue a filmmaking career. USC gave me the opportunity and confidence to do just that.
Upon graduation, I will focus on producing and marketing my short film, The Undergraduate. I then plan to work within the production sector in the film industry, to help make movies you will undoubtedly one day see, so that, when the time is right, my films will appear on the movie theater line up right there with them.
